MY JOURNEY
My passion for the visual arts developed from childhood, where I spent my spare time painting & drawing. I completed my full time art studies at college, gaining my Preliminary Diploma of Fine Arts & spent a short time at Art School before becoming a commercial artist. Marriage, motherhood & family business put all art on hold for some time. Caring for 6 children & many grandchildren later, I consider myself to be richly blessed in all avenues of my life.
I follow my passion most days – ‘I love what I do & do what I love’- allowing viewers to experience the ‘joie de vivre, the ‘deja vue’ & intimacy that is my work.
My commitment to teaching also gives me the chance to share my gifts, my knowledge & passion.
Together with Galleries & Corporations who have supported me in introducing my work to their clients, the privilege of participating in many exhibitions throughout NZ, whether Solo , group or selection for major exhibitions has resulted in the recognition & appreciation of my work with many awards. I am privileged to be invited to exhibit overseas, most recently, to the 2009 Florence Biennale International Exhibition
Although my current works are flavoured with the influence of my European travels ,as I add more spice to my broad menu of subject matter, there is no place like home, where I can safely take myself off into the wilderness & immerse myself in my painting & the unspoilt beauty & spirit of our land.
My art continues to reflect who I am, - my emotions, my desires, my spirituality & my deep love of life & all it has to offer when one leaves oneself open to infinite possibilities.
